Byamukama Isaac

Byamukama is a very quiet boy. One can get only too little from him in a conversation. He lives with his mother and stepfather who is bent on making his life a very miserable one. However much his mother tries to send him to school, he faces very many challenges one of them being his stepfather. The stepfather does not like the idea of him going to school he says the boy has to stay home do farming to support the family. He says there is no point in him going to school as there is no future and that boys his age are busy doing casual labour to get money.

Considering he lives very far from school and has to walk, when he gets home late the stepfather chases him away that he should go and sleep where he is coming from. He then has to go and beg his aunt who also stays very far to let him spend the night meanwhile it is around 8pm and the boy is still walking around after a long day at school and on a hungry stomach. This happens almost every day.

When we asked him what he would like us to do for him he said he wants school fees and clothes for putting on at home as he has to use his school uniform for school and home. He said all he wants is to be able to go to school so that he cannot be like the other boys on the village who just go around drinking, doing drugs etc and to escape his step father’s abuse.

Isaac has passion for playing soccer. When we asked him what he wants to be when he finishes school he said he is not very sure yet. But with all the guidance, love, care  am sure  he will be able to figure that out.
