Gerald is a brilliant boy who just loves school and studying. He lives with both parents. The father used to be cook in one of the local schools deep in the village but decided to move to the town so that he could put his son in a better school as he is a brilliant boy. Moving to the city has not been easy as he is not found employment. The family depends on selling a local drink called bushera.Still that is not enough to cater for the boys school, rent, and other basic needs of life.
Gerald has an issue with his leg that has been going on for a while and has not been able to get treatment. When he visited the hospital he was told that he is suffering from TIBIA the hospital could not carry out an x-ray as they do not have the machine. He was advised to go to Kampala for checkup which his family could not afford. When the pain become unbearable he went back and he was told they could not do anything for him and that he should visit a native doctor. They have tried all they can but there is no improvement. Some mornings the pain is excruciating he cannot move even a step.
Amidst all this he does not give up on school. Amidst all the pain he goes through, the only thing that makes him happy is going to school. He wants to be a Doctor when he finishes school.
